Civil War- Confederacy
People who fought for the Confederacy included Southern white men, many of whom were farmers, who volunteered to defend their home and way of life, which included the institution of slavery. There were also immigrant soldiers, particularly Irish, German, and British, who had lived in the South for some time and supported the Confederate cause. Additionally, some African American men served the Confederacy as laborers, providing essential support like building fortifications, though their roles and numbers varied.
