    Notes:


    Noel Angell Junior is my 5th Cousin, three times removed. He seemed to have lived on his father's farm. One of the National Census for Vermont has them in Barnard, another in Bridgewater. It is also likely that they went to Massachusetts with maany other friends and relatives during the 1830's for a stay. They had returned to Vermont by the time his son in law George Rice died in 1860 in Woodstock. He and his wife are buried in the River Street Cemetery, Woodstock along side Charles and Clarissa ( Angell ) Rice and young Elsie.- GJR Herman William Tripp--Remembering......

    Clarissa Goodrich Angell Rice is my 6th Cousin, two times removed. Many other girls and relatives, perhaps even her father and mother , went from Bridgewater and Barnard Vermont to work in the Textile Mills and other Factories in Massachusettsts. About this time it was said that one year in Vermont, there was a frost every month. Many hillside farmers could not grow enough to provide the seed needed for the next year's planting. Times were really tough and there was an exodus from thhe state, with many headed west to farm or south to Massachusetts to work in the textile mills or shoe factories. Lucky for us, because that is how a Vermont farm girl came to meet and marry George Rice, a chairmaker from Fitchburg. It's also sad to note, that while they were on the farm, the Rice men lived to a ripe old age, but once in the city or in a factory ( at least George P. and his son Charles E. ), most died young of consumtion or like diseases-GJR Herman William Tripp--Remembering......

    Charles Elliot Rice is my 7th Cousin, one time removed. He was a photgrapher at the time he married Ellen Hynes. Later he was listed as an employee of C.W. Sayward, manufacturor of doors, sash, blinds and stairrails; dealer in lumber, glass anand putty; also custom planing and sawing. Local Central Street, Woodstock, Vermont Family tradition has it that he cut himself while doing carpentry work and the wound didn't bleed much, though he died of consumption, could that have been causeed by "blood poisoning" or massive infection? Have not as yet found date of a divorce or an annulment from Mary Jane Heath of Barnard; but the marriage to Ellen is recorded in the Woodstock, Vermont town records.
