Note on p. 13 of PLT Archives TV15 1m2 states "All (of the children) went to America but Gawin of second family". This could mean, as I read the note, that all children of Gawin, of both his marriages, or it may mean only the children of the second marriage went to America, excepting Gawin. Did he remain in Ireland and reside in Killinchy? Check map of Ireland.

However subsequent information (PLT Archives, Vol TV15 1M2, p. 15) leads one to believe that the son James of the first marriage was already deceased when his father remarried. It appears that this son was also a "James".

Supervisor; director of the Poor; as as Representative in State Legislature in 1845. Much interest in the [civil war] and was a War Democrat. [He] served with Thos W. Compson as a committee for the purpoose of raising men and money [for the war]. He . . managed the town in the [critical years after the war] in a very satisfactory manner. Mr. Stevenson is pleasantly located on one of the finest farms in the county and has the unbounded esteem of a large circle of friends and acquaintances." Stevenson, who was childless, and in his later years entrusted James with the management of his farms, making him executor of his will, and one of the heirs of his estate." Wheeler in 1831. She spent 75 years in Waterloo and 71 of those in her residence on Elisha street. She was deeply religious and a communicant of St. Paul's church of Waterloo since July 7, 1866. She had a keen mind and a lively interest in the affairs of the day. Her genial presence and cordiality leave a bright memory behind. She had a gentle, patient, loving character and her Christian faith shone brightly.

While engaged in picking apples from a tree, the ladder of which he was standing turned, precipitating him to the ground, a distance of only six or eight feet. He fell heavily, breaking his back a at the lower point of the shoulder blades, and rendering it impossible for him to move. He was taken to his home and medical aid promptly summoned. Everything was done for his relief, and the following day Dr. Lester was called and the fracture reduced, but the paralysis of the body below the injury continues, and the injured man is in an absolutley helpless condition. It is a matter of surprise that he should have been injured so seriously from falling so short a distance, but beinng a large man, he doubtless fell with great force. His physicians entertain the hope that the separated parts may ultimately unite, and that there is a strong probability of his recovery. His friends are hopeful and all who know him sympathizze with him in his misfortune. He is one of the most substantial citizens of Tyre and stands high in the estimation of his neighbors and friends.
