    Jonathan Houston Tripp attended the Washington Medical College, Baltimore Maryland, a Medical College at Louisville Kentucky, and the medical department of the University of Tennessee; he practice at Marble Hill in Moore County and later at Tullahoma, Coffee County, Tennessee; he served as a private in Company A, 44th Tennessee Infantry, CSA.

    ! He was in Co. A, 44 TN Inf. in Civil War and was in battles at Bowling Green, Fort Donelson, Corinth, Munfordville, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Hoover's Gap, Beech Grove, Fairfield, Chickamauga, the siege of Knoxville, Fort Loudon, Fort Sanders and Bean's Station. In spring of 1864 his regiment was ordered to Richmond and he surrendered with the army at Appomattox 9 Apr 1865. He was a physician and surgeon at Tullahome TN. He also had two sons who died young.
