  Bock: He remembered as a young man to WI with his parents where he assisted his father on the farm and in his lumber business until 1876, when he went to Washington Co. Kansas settling near Barnes, which he helped to establish as a town. In 1879 he was appointed Station Agent for the Chicago, Burlingrton and Union Pacific Railroad Co. at Barnes. In 1886 he was made Cashier of the Exchange Bank, continuing to operate his farm of 210 acres.
