Notes - He was a clothier in Dedham and also a yeoman (tilled his own land), lived at Dedham and in later years at Ardleigh in Essex. He mar. Philippa---, usually thought to be Philippa Ward, the sister of Robert Ward of Colchester. He died at Ardleigigh in Jan or Feb 1615/16. His will dated Jan 20, 1615/16 was proved Mar 2, 1615/16, was signed by his mark. His wife survived him. In the will he devised to his wife and children many parcels of land, house, etc. as well as the usual personal items and money indicating that he was a wealthy man. He gave to his sons Philip and Samuel, or the survivor of them, the dwelling house in Dedham including other buildings, garden, etc. Also to Philip, five parcels of land lying nerar the dwelling house.
