Notes
!1)Anna Octavia Stark, aged 71, well known and highly esteemed resident of West Green street passed away at her home last Saturday afternoon at 3:00 'clock of a stroke of paralysis. She moved to Smethport when she was ten. She was a graduate of the Smethfield Academy, predecessor of the High School. She was a member of the German Lutheran Church and for years was an active member of the Protected Home Circle. Her husband, Washington Stark died many years before. She is survied by three sons, LeRoy and Winfield of Smethport and Rex Stark of Philadelphia: two daughters, Mrs. Marion Stevenson of Seneca Falls, NY and Miss Doris Stark of Smethport, 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Palall bearers were six grandsons of Mrs. Stark, Ray, Clair, Edward, Robert, John and Roger Stark. 2)The Mckean Democrat newspaper of Smethport, PA on Thursday, June 20, 1935 said this of her, "The nobility of motherhood, limitless in the heights it is capable of reaching, is one of the few things that endures in a fast-moving and thoughtless age and will ever stand unshaken to inspire faith and human love in the hearts and minds of mankind. All mothers live to love and serve, but to somome mothers He, who directs the human plan of things, assigns unusually hard tasks to be borne nobly and uncomplainingly. Such a wife and mother was the late Anna Stark, who entered Rest Eternal last Saturday. The Democrat bows to the memory of this noble woman and extends heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. They have a priceless heritage in the memory of her unselfish, inspiring life--a life of beautiful service, cheerfully rendered."
