Mrs. Frary is the oldest resident in point of years she has lived in Covert. Party was planned by Georgia Frary Underwood, granddaughter of the Frarys. This pioneer couple were married by the Rev. F. W. Bush at the home of the bride's parents in 1876. Mrs. Frary's girlhood home, like all other early homes of the community, was a log house, and stood where the home of Mrs. Edith Calvin now stands, across from the Star hotel, on Covert's main street. The senior Frarys came to Covert when Mrs. Frary was a child of three and she has lived here ever since and is now 74. Mr. Frary came here with his parentrs as a lad of nine, and this has been his home since. He is now 76 year old, still active and abable to carry on his work as overseer of the Monroe orchards, located on the northwest edge of town. (Date of newspaper, March 20, 1932. There is a very nice photo of the Frary's.) 6)COVERT. Mr. and Mrs. William Frary, prominent residents of the community...married by the Rev. Frederick W. Bush, Covert's first resident minister of the Congregational Church at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Tripp. The Tripp home was a log cabin which stood on an 80 acre farm. Mrsrs. Calvin's home in Main street stands on the site of this cabin. The Tripps were the first permanent resident of Covert. Soon after their arrival, other families came and stores, shops and a schoolhouse were built. A tramway was laid to Lakake Michigan shore and lumbering began, this region then was covered with fine pine and whitewood trees. The Tripps came early in 1861. Mrs. Frary, then three years old and her sister Lillian Turner, were brought here by their parents. On April 17, another sister Nellie was born, being the first white child born in what is now Covert village. ... When the weather was stormy, Mr. Tripp took his children to and from shcool with an ox team. 7)Death date of Thursday, April 18, 1940 confirmed by obituary. Rev W. E. Goltz, pastor of the Congregational Church will officiate at the funeral.
