Notes - Samuel Tripp overseer of highways Junius, 1823.
August 10, 1987: Chas Quick's research, Cem Record, Oakwood Cem, Saline, Washtenaw, Mi gives Samuel Tripp, D 22Nov1852, aged 59y6m24d, and wife Sibyl d14Jun1855, aged 56y4m. I conclude these two Samuels are probably the same person and make them the same persons.
From p1384, Hist Wash Co, V2, "American House", built 1833, sold first to Eben Spraque, then to Samuel Tripp who sold it to John Kanouse in 1853.
Avery book clearly identifies Samuel, p23. Samuel lived on "grandfather's homestead" until grandfather's death [25 Apr 1835], after which "he sold the farm and went to Michigan". He had a "kind, genial and happy disposition and [a] fine voice for singing," yet "died a victim to the intoxicating cup a long time ago. Aunt Sibyl. . . died a similar death". The obit of his son, Sidney, tells a similar sad story. PLT
In 1837 Perigo [20289], 45, his brother Samuel [20290], 43, and their first cousin, Thomas [20017], 44, moved to Washtenaw County, Michigan. They brought their families (except Thomas' oldest children) and settled there with about a total of 15 to 18 children. Samuel and Thomas remained there, Perigo went west to Hillsdale County.
