  • Notes 
    • On May 22, 1810 "Division of the Howland farm between Luthan and Tillinghast Tripp" occurred. On the same day Lydia wife of Luthan and Susanna wife of Tillinghast, signed away there dower rights to him. On September 26 1812, Daniel Gifford sold to "Tillinghast Tripp, Westport, mariner, salt marsh meadow near Horseneck Beach, Westport" and on December 24, 1829, "Isaac Cory assignes to Tillinghast Tripp, Westport, mariner, land in Westport." Tillinghast was a master ship builder in the early days of the whaling industry. His obituary in New Bedford Mercury of July 25, 1836 calls him Captain, a title given to ship builders as well as ship masters (American Families 6-7).
