Notes
Velda Marjorie Stuart My Aunt Velda
I know how to spell charivari. I learned this name when we attended your "shivaree". I remember it as clear as if it were yesterday. What fun! everyone yelling and teasing you. Did you enjoy it as much as we did? I was eight years old. I did not know you very well, but I sure knew my Uncle Gerald! Uncle Gerald was always fun to talk to. He was always ready to listen, or tell us about whatever we wanted to know. I especially remember that he told me about farming and about laying hens. I was pretty amazed about the way you two produced eggs. Not by the case, but by the dozens of cases! Clara and I have always worked together like you two, only we were more into pigs than chickens. The very last time I talked to Uncle Gerald, he was reminiscing about farming with horses. I think he was remembering like I do sometimes! He was a very good man to the end and an inspiration for us all. My Uncle Gerald! I am sending you a booklet that is full of mememories. The booklet starts out with the story of Zacheus Lester Tripp. To me, he is the biggest hero, among many Tripp family heroes, because he is the one that saved our family from total destruction. I follow with Uncle Gerald's seventh Great Grandfather, John Tripp the Founder. Then comes Great Grandfather Peleg Tripp, sixth Great Grandfather, down the line till Gerald Sanford Tripp. These stories are excerpts from much information that Clara and I have collected over a twenty year period, doing family research. Many of the stories are about our immediate family and I am hoping that others will write about little "happenings" that we should know about and remember. With Love Herman William Tripp--Remembering----
