  References: Randall was the chief Researcher at the New Bedford Library in Massachusetts. Leonard I. Tripp began working in farming at age of 11. At 19 he apprenticed himself to H. S. Van Dyne as a blacksmith in Clinton Hollow. He worked in Washington Hollow and Millibrook for 4 years, returning in 1877 to buy the shop where he had been an apprentice.
