John emigrated with his father to Rockingham County, Virginia in 1780, where he would later own a tract of land. He moved to Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1805, and settled in Rush Creek Township; his farm was on Upper Raccoon Creek. John married [1] Margaret Shaver, March 15, 1788, and nine children were born in this marriage. After the death of Margaret, John married [2] Mrs. Blosser, of Bremen, Ohio, in 1845. He is buried in the family graveyard on the farm near North Berne. ["Beery Family History"] -page73.
