Notes - References: Randall: Joseph manuscript from the New Bedford Library, 9th Cousin Breffni Whelan, decendant who specializes in John Tripp, the Founders daughter's decendants. Bock: He was of Tiverton when his will, dated December 1794 and proved March 2, 1795, named grandson Abiel as executor, wife Joanna, sons Rufus , Deceased with widow Elizabeth and Aaron; daughters Lydia wife of Job Taber, Mary Tripp deceased leaving children, and Avis Tripp unm.; grandchildren listed (2:223-6 in RIGR). In the 1774 census Abiel of Tiverton had at home 2 male and 2 female children over 16. He sold real estate to Peleg Sanford on March 25, 1776 and to son Simmons. In 1782 RI census , Abiel and wife were over age 50 and had one male and one female aged 22-49 [1733-1760] and one male and one female under age 15 [possibly grand-children]. By 1820 census there were no Abiels listed in Tiverton. H married second little Compton Rhode Island July 22, 1787 Joanna Taylor, daughter of Robert and Rebecca Taylor.
