  • Notes
    • At the time of his death his children were living in Stonington, Connecticut. Stephen Tripp is my 1st Cousin, 8 times removed. References: Randall, James manuscript from the New Bedford Library; Breffni Whelan, decendant who specializes on daughters and their offspring; Bock: He was a freeman in Newport May 1739 ( Bartlett 4:554) and was ment in diary of Dr. Ezra Stiles, pastor of 2nd Cong. CH, Newport 1770-1775 and later president of Yale University. In 1774 he was listed at Newport with one male and 3 females over 16, but there was no mention in 1742 census. The post-Revolution estate record of Newport might reveal other information of his family. He was an ensign in 1775 (Arnold, RI History). He was possibly the carpenter Stephen Tripp listed on the Sloop King George of Newport, no date ( Smith ).
