    Clark Tripp enlisted July 12 1861 at Burlington, Iowa in Company "F", 6th Iowa Infantry and was discharged June 1862. He enlisted August 8, 1852 at Trenton, Missouri in Compny "G" and "F:, 23rd Missouri infantry, and was dischared June 1864 at Louisville, Kentucky. On April 6th 1862 at the Battle of Shiloh, he was shot in the left arm near his shoulder by a musket ball. Around the 27 or 28 of July 1864 at Atlanta, Georgia he was struck by a 6 pound spent cannonball on the right leg. The ball had struck the ground in front of the company, striking him as it past through the company, just below the knee. He fell to the ground and they put him on a stretcher. As he was being carried off the field he was struck on the right hip by a spent musket ball. He was married by Daniel R. Shirley, Justice of the peace at Eaglevlle, Harrison County Missouri to Mary Emaline Hopkins At age 30, he was 5 foot 9 and one half inches tall; he weighed 162 pounds. He weighed 154 pounds at age 45, 159 at 47 and was of light complexion. A witness was Elizabeth Tripp, age 51 in 1891 of Eagleville; John H. Tripp, age 57 in 1898 of Eagleville. In 1877 Clark resided in Daville, Crawford County Iowa. In 1890 and 1891 Mary E. Tripp resided in Caledonia, Ringgold County, Iowa. He died of chronic pneumonia and abcess of the left lung. He had lived 32 years in Missouri. He was buried at Union Cemetery at Eagleville, Missouri.
