    Father came to Saratoga from NY in 1855, family in 1856. Died at 84, husband surviving her. At death, claimed to be only couple living on homestead preempted from govt. in Saratoga Twp. Death notice says born in Catargus Co, NY (Cattaraugus; Erie county is next north), in sw NY.

    Letter from Winona Area Genealogical Roundtable, 6 Nov 1995, suggests name may be Ingales, that neither Ingalls nor Engles is found in Winona county cemetery index. (..les could be mis-reading of --lls)

    Tom Straw interview with Minnie Day (wife of Winfred, dau of Harriet Ingalls Day), from info told her by Ann Ingalls Day (w of George Day): Parents, ie, Henry Ingalls and Mary Bisbee(? possibly Bradley?), parents had confectionary store in White Plains NY; Grandpa Ingalls sold balsam medicine on way from NY to MN and at Saratoga. Ann (?) taught school in White Plains before moving.

    Per letter from Winona Area Genealogy Roundtable, listed in Saratoga cem book #15, p. 25, as in row 15, stone 17 (with Straw family), named as wife of Henry Ingales (not Ingalls; neither Ingalls nor Engles found in index).

    1860 census for Saratoga, Winona Co, MN Lists Henry Ingalls (ae 55) and Mary " (ae 48), but rather than NY, Mary lists birthplace as Connecticut. Edwin Day (ae 27) and Harriet E. " (ae 17) listed as living in same household along with Lidea A. Ingalls, ae 14, and Thomas Short, a laborer, ae 45.

    Letter from Alice Robertson to sister Mabel Keeler in Dec 1964 (extract), "I remember Grandma [Jane Ingalls Straw] once told me that her grandfather, a sailor, came over from England. And once, when they were showing me the graves in the Saratoga cemetery, there was one with the name of Bradley, which Grandpa [Henry H. Straw] said was Grandma's grandfather, Scotch-Irish." i.e., father of Mary Bisbee. A note from Oaka Herman 1977 from gravestones apparently in Saratoga Cemetery, includes "Mary B. wife of Henry, Jan 15, 1865, age 52" and "Peter Brabley BC-RN, died May 5 1862 age 82 - 6 mos."

    Family records claim that in 1775 Henry Ingalls was Orderly Sgt in 24th Regiment of Capt. Capron's Co. (in siege of Boston) A pedigree of Tom's shows Rufus Ingalls as father of Henry who married Mary Bisbee and fathered Jane, wife of Henry H., with Rufus' father named Henry.

    AF LDS, says born 23 Jul 1769 in Richmond, Cheshire, NH (McCoy indicates Richmond may have been part of MA at that time. These files do not show any descendents of Rufus, but do show marriage to Lydia Cole.

    1850 census for Erie Co., NY, shows Rufus Ingalls living with Sybil Booth, youngest daughter.

    Rufus married Lydia Cole on 28 Feb 1791 in Royalston, Worchester Co., Ma. Lydia was born in 1769 in Royalston, Worcester Co., Ma. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Family records from Turner/Day side claim Henry was orderly sergeant in 24th Regt, Capt. Capon's Co., in 1775, in the siege of Boston. Parts of his diary exist. !SRC DAR Lineage Book, 49:211, 1910, Mrs. Mary Queal Beyer: Henry enlisted, 1775, a as sergeant in Capt. Oliver Capron's company, Col. Ephriam Doolittle's 24th Massachusetts regiment. [later promoted to Lieut.?] Same record indicates that he had a sister, Lucy, who became gr grandparent of Mary Queal Beyer recorded as member o of DAR !SRC Dar Patriot Index Centennial Edition, 1990, part II Henry, b 10-12-1738, MA d 6-18-1813 NY m Sybil Carpenter LT CS PS NA IGI records for birth of Henry on this date say place was Rehoboth, Bristol Co. He was born in Rehoboth, Mass; died in Otsego County, N. Y."
