  1. 14.  Henry Welch Eddy was born on 13 Mar 1830 (son of Horatio Nelson Eddy and Philandra Welch).

    Notes:


    Henry Welch Eddy is my 5th Cousin, three times removed. Henry Welch Eddy and his father in law Henderson H. Lewelling had the first apple orchard in Oregon, selling their first eight bushels in San Francisco for $500 in gold. Henry was a State Representative and then State Senator in Oregon, until 1863. He established the first flour mill in Oregon. In 1865, he went to Georgia for a year, then returned to Oregon. In 1870 he went back to Watertown, New York .In 1882 he settled on 800 acres a mile east of Canova, South Dakota and raised wheat and cattle. He became Commissioner of Mines in 1883 and was a state senator in South Dakota. Herman William Tripp--Remembering......

    Henry married Jane Lewelling in 1853. Jane (daughter of Henderson H. Lewelling and Elizabeth Pressnall) was born on 10 May 1838 in Salem, Iowa; died on 7 Jan 1871/72 in Portland, Clackamas, Oregon, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
