  1. 1.  James L. Lawther was born on 06 Oct 1834 in County Down, Northern Ireland (son of Gawin Lawther and Mary Bailey); died on 18 June 1889 in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland; was buried in County Down, Northern Ireland.

    Notes:

i)Family group processed, but no ordinance dates known. They lived in New York.

Gawin married Mary Bailey about 1819. Mary was born on 20 Aug 1800 in Northern Ireland; died on 2 May 1876 in Killinchy, County Down, Northern Ireland; was buried in County Down, Northern Ireland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Mary Bailey was born on 20 Aug 1800 in Northern Ireland; died on 2 May 1876 in Killinchy, County Down, Northern Ireland; was buried in County Down, Northern Ireland.

    Notes:

!1)Mary Bailey was a sister of John Augdencburg. PLT Archives, Vol TV15 1M1, p. 17 Maybe it is Augdensbury. This means either (1) Mary Bailey's maiden name was Mary Augdensbury, and she first married a Mr. Bailey, or, (2) Bailey IS her maideen name and John is a step brother. I lean toward (1). PLT 2)Further, this Mary Bailey could be connected with Jacob Bailey, b 29 Oct 1788, which may somehow fit his family into the network. 3)Mary, only 15 years apart from Jacob Bailey, must be his sister: Jacob BAILEY b: 29 Oct 1785 This connects the Jacob Bailey Family to the Lawthers.

  1. 4.  Gawin Lawther was born on 23 Aug 1740 in Ireland.

    Notes:

!1)His name appears as "Gawn" also. This was the spelling of his paternal grandfather's name. 2)Beside his name in parenthesis appears the following (Killinchy). What does this mean? Note on p. 13 of PLT Archives TV15 1m2 states "All (of the children) went to America but Gawin of second family". This could mean, as I read the note, that all children of Gawin, of both his marriages, or it may mean only the children of the second marriage went to America, excepting Gawin. Did he remain in Ireland and reside in Killinchy? Check map of Ireland.
