Ashbel Hosmer (1758-1812) served as corporal in Capt. Samuel Granger's company, Connecticut Line. In 1797 he was an invalid pensioner, being disabled, 1781, in service.

Abraham Payne (1722-1801), a patriot, served on important committees during the Revolution. He was born in Canterbury, Conn.; died in Hamilton, N. Y.

John Robie (1712-88) signed the Association Test of New Hampshire, 1776. He was born in Hampton Falls; died in Candia, N. H.

Walter Robie (1741-1818) was a member of the Provincial Congress, 1780, from Chester, N. H., where he was born. He died in Candia, N. H.

Samuel Emerson (1707-93) signed the Association Test and turned out at the Lexington Alarm. He was born in Haverhill, Mass.; died in Chester, N. H.

Nathaniel Emerson (1741-1824) commanded a company at the Lexington Alarm and served as lieutenant-colonel at the battle of Bennington. He was born in Chester; died in Candia, N. H.
