John Habersham (1754-99), who was a graduate of Princeton at the beginning of the war, was commissioned lieutenant in the battalion commanded by his brother, Joseph Habersham. He attained the rank of major, and as an officer was prompt and courageous, serving until the independence of the Colonies was established. He was born in Georgia; died in Savannah.
