Gr.-granddaughter of Christopher Johnson and Mary Austin, his wife; Zadoc Steele and Hannah Shurtleff, his wife.

Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of James Steele.

Christopher Johnson, 1775, served as a private in Capt. David Welch's company and in 1778 he was sergeant under Capt. Adonijah Burr. He died in 1823.

James Steele, who had fought in the early wars, served in the Revolution. His son Zadoc, 1776, enlisted as a waiter to his father and later served as teamster.

Daniel Fiske, Jr., (1753-1810), served in the militia of Rhode Island. He was born in Scituate, where he died.

Matthew Manchester, (1720-1801), served on the Committee of Safety of Cranston. He was born in Tiverton and died in Cranston.

Charles Tillinghast, (1729-1776), was appointed by the General Assembly, recruiting officer, 1775. He was taken prisoner by the Tories, carried to Block Island, where he died from wounds and exposure. He was born in Providence, R. I. His son, John, was killed by the Tories.
